GITHEMBE AB - KENYA

Based just to the north west of Nairobi, the Githembe Coffee Factory is right at the heart of the local community, providing jobs, investment and education, as well as a delicious crop. Here the cherries thrive under the shade of indigenous trees in the amazing red volcanic soil.

The team work carefully with the cherries, hand harvesting before taking them through a meticulous drying process that, with the limited water available locally, ensures the full flavour of the beans can develop.

Githembe was a recent feature of our Filter Club subscription, and we really enjoyed the smells of lemongrass wafting through the roastery as we were preparing it. It's tasting particularly good on batch brew in our cafés at the moment too.
